Game Information:

Another World, also known as Out of this World in North America and Outer World in Japan, is a 1991 action-adventure and cinematic platform video game designed by Éric Chahi for Delphine Software.

Originally developed for Amiga and later released for Atari ST, Apple IIGS and DOS, the game was widely ported to other contemporary systems. Subsequent efforts resulted in various recreations of the game engine to allow it to run on modern computers, consoles and cell phones.

Another World was highly innovative in its use of cinematic effects, both in real time and in short cutscenes, which earned the game praise among critics and commercial success.

The player can use the keyboard or gamepad to allow the protagonist to run, jump, attack and perform other specific actions, such as interacting with the environment. In the initial part of the game, Lester is unarmed and therefore helpless, except for the possibility of kicking small creatures.

Later, the player acquires a laser pistol from a fallen enemy.2 However, the game uses numerous save points that allow the player to start from them indefinitely. On Amiga and older consoles without the ability to save the game, the player can write down an alphanumeric code provided by these save points to enter at another time and continue the game from that point.

Before the player started the game on Amiga, Atari ST or MS-DOS, the game came with the code in the form of a wheel as an anti-copying method. If the code is entered wrongly and repeatedly, the game crashes giving the anti-copy error message and ends the game abruptly.

The protagonist of the game is Lester Knight Chaykin, a young physics genius. In the introductory cinematic, Lester arrives at his high-tech subway laboratory during a storm and goes to work on his experiment using a particle accelerator. Immediately before the particles reach their intended destination, lightning strikes the lab and interferes with the accelerator, causing Lester to teleport to another planet.

After fleeing from several dangerous indigenous animals, Lester is captured by a race of humanoid aliens and taken to a subway prison camp. Lester escapes along with an alien prisoner known as "Buddy" by traveling through a series of dangerous locations, fighting alien soldiers and wild creatures while solving numerous puzzles in order to survive. At the climax of the game, Lester is severely injured by one of the aliens, but, with the help of his alien friend, he manages to kill his attacker and escape. When Lester falls, he immediately teams up with Buddy, who picks up Lester, and the two escape on a dragon-like creature, flying towards the horizon.
